The recent Shenzhen aluminum foil safety case has buyers nervous. Migration levels nearly twice the legal limit. Products with no labels. Outdated standards.
The message is clear: not all aluminum containers are safe.
As a buyer, you don't need to be a testing expert. You just need to ask the right three questions.
Why it matters: China's updated GB4806.9-2023 standard set a strict limit: aluminum migration must not exceed 5 mg/kg. Yet some products still use the outdated 2016 standard — which had no aluminum migration limit at all.
What you want to hear: "We follow GB4806.9-2023. Migration is controlled under 5 mg/kg."
Red flag: Vague answers like "We've always done it this way" or "No problems so far."
Why it matters: In the Shenzhen case, lab tests found migration levels exceeding 9.3 mg/kg — nearly double the limit. You can't see it. You can't feel it. Only a test report proves compliance.
What you want to hear: "Yes. We provide third-party test reports confirming compliance."
Red flag: "Not necessary" or "Too much trouble."
Why it matters: Many of the seized products were "三无" products — no manufacturer name, no address, no production date. If something goes wrong, you can't trace the source.
What you want to hear: "Every carton is labeled with manufacturer, address, production date, shelf life, and standard."
Red flag: Packaging that says nothing but "Made in China."

We don't dodge questions. Compliance is our baseline, not a selling point.
Next time you contact a supplier, send these three questions directly.
Fast replies, clear answers, willingness to share documents — worth talking further.
Evasive, delaying, or "not necessary" — save your time and your risk.
Request test reports or a sample pack. Seeing is believing.
